Answers to the questions we hear most, and how to reach us if something's wrong.
Frequently asked questions
- What is Lamo Times?
- An iOS app for OMPA, the East Bay, California summer swim league. It shows boards and leaderboards, swimmer profiles with personal bests and season trends, medal time-standards, and a championship meet planner — all usable offline.
- Where does the data come from, and how often does it update?
- It's built from the league's own published meet results. The app ships with a full history built in, and periodically downloads an updated file with the current season's results so new meets show up without needing an App Store update.
- Why is a swimmer or a meet missing?
- Results only appear once the league has published them and the app has downloaded that update — a meet from the last few days may not be in yet. Occasionally a swimmer's name is entered slightly differently across meets in the official results, which the app tries to reconcile automatically; if that hasn't caught a particular case yet, let us know and we'll take a look.
- How do medal time-standards and POWER scores work?
- Medal time-standards are target times the league publishes that swimmers can hit to earn a medal at a meet, separate from where they finish in the race. A POWER score is a single number the app calculates to summarize how a time compares to everyone else who has swum that event in the league — a quick way to compare swims across different events and age groups on the same scale.
Troubleshooting
If something looks wrong or the app is misbehaving, try this first:
- Force-quit the app and reopen it.
- Check the App Store for a pending update and install it.
